Yankees Blog by Journal News beat writer Peter AbrahamSardinha signs with Seattle
January
17 Bronson Kiheimahanaomauiakeo Sardinha signed a minor-league deal with Seattle and was invited to spring training. The Yankees had hoped to keep the outfielder but were unable.

Sardinha was 3 for 9 with 6 runs scored in September and was on the playoff roster.

So Bronson Alphabet Sardinha is now with the Mariners. I think this was because of the Yankees not having the room on the 40 man roster to keep him from being snagged away.

He wasn't a bad player, to think "DL Carla" hogged his spot on the 40 man because he didn't want to be signed on the minor league contract.

I hope things work out for the kid.

Sometimes things like this really bug me. If there isn't enough room for them at a critical time, why did the Yankees add Posada as early as they did when it could have waited a little so Bronson would have been protected? Either that or why not try working a deal to trade him. It seems like such a waste for the Yankees to give him up for nothing.

They should have just dropped "DL Carla". It's not like he's going to pitch anyway.

Good luck to Bronny. Wonder if Abreu will miss his mini-me?

Its probably due to insurance reasons that he was kept on the 40 man roster. I think they lose the insurance money if he is dropped.

Yeap, "DL Carla" is the gift that keeps on giving.

What will kill me is if he comes back next year and does really well, stays healthy, pitching awesome. Then the Yankees might think "Hey, let's get him".

Exactly. It seems there are some players who do terrible here and deal once they are gone.

I'm not sure if "pitching" is the right term to use. Have any of us seen him actually do that? :D

I still feel blessed and honored to have witnessed one of his wins (at the Metrodome last year). There's a story to tell my grandchildren.

Hi Peggy! Welcome.

This type of site is a bit different from Mark's and it takes a little while to get used to it. When comments are really going back and forth a lot, then you can just hit your refresh button. You can also see if anyone posted after you on the index page, so you can go around and see what other topics people are commenting on.

The one advantage to this type of site is that you can keep discussions going about a set subject. At least that is the theory. Mark's site could be tough to follow when three or four conversations and topics were being covered.

Hope to see you stick around here and post like mad! If you have any problems finding your way around, send me a PM.
