What a surprise. Two batters faced, two hits given up by Bruney. The tying run is on base, the go-ahead run at the plate.

Girard pulling the same !%@$ as Torre.

Make that 3 straight singles, a run given up, and the go-ahead run on base. Bruney is not a set-up man. He had some success last season, but I think that was a fluke.

Torre school of management:

A relief pitcher can't go more than one inning unless he sucks. If he is pitching lights out, yank him and put in a struggling reliever to blow the game.

I believe that's 3 straight failed setup efforts from Bruney. Mo was able to bail him out in the first two; not so tonight.

Phil Hughes should be this team's setup man.

Honestly, I find Torre's handling of the bullpen generally preferable to Girardi's. Girardi at least has some talent to work with, whereas Torre was usually messing around, trying to find ride the hot hand of a few junky relievers.

But meanwhile, the Melkman hath delivered yet again.

Someone give Jeter some codeine. He's still hacking away with a cough.

That's pretty funny Rob, but it isn't because it's so true. They're dying to develop roles and have guys know what they are but at the sake of forcing it, makes no sense.

Whoa, some late inning clutch.... remnants of the winning streak! How appealing! :-)

Well, Matsui, Swisher and Melky certainly chose a good spot to get their first hits of the game.

And is that two hits with RISP in the same inning?!?

And there goes Jeter getting his first hit of the game as well. Captain clutch makes an appearance! Maybe since there was nobody on first Captain DP decided to take the AB off.

And, somehow, that makes it 3 hits with Risp in the same inning!

Girardi really puzzles me at times with boneheaded moves that he makes. Hughes pitched 1 inning, a 9 pitch inning at that. He is stretched out as a starter, though that might be diminishing a bit he can certainly throw more than 9 pitches and 1 inning.

Bruney isn't there yet... or maybe he was pitching above his level before. What possible reason would Girardi have in sticking to stupid?

At least the players have picked up Girardi and Bruney by bouncing back. Its just not the right way to manage.

Add to that stupid move the fact that Hughes really needs to get more innings in so he might be able to start next season when Andy is gone.
