The Yankees are off to another quick start, up 2-0 on Seattle here in the 2nd inning following a rain delay. We'll see if Hinske gets into his first game in pinstripes.

I wonder if the Yankees will set a record this year for number of starting times.

I wonder if Ichiro's whining about striking out on a check swing affected the umpires' judgment on later check swings. It seems like the umpires have been very willing to give the Mariners the benefit of the doubt on every one.

Very possible, Fred. It sure seems to be raining an awful lot in New York this year.

So, we've all been really impressed with Teixeira's hustle. He's run out everything, including that memorable pop fly against the Muts.

So, imagine my surprise to see him loafing it on that ground out. He had the DP beat. He slowed up about half way.

Irritating, to say the least.

A-Rod has been playing stellar defense this season. The DP he pulled off earlier in the game was amazing; and he just made a great play on Cedeno's grounder.

Joba, however, is really irritating me. The Mariners are a pretty weak hitting team, yet they are outhitting the Yankees. Why? He keeps giving them 3-0 counts!!!

Nick Swisher: 0-2 for the game, 0-2 with RISP. Can't even get a sac fly with a runner on 3rd.

And Gardner is on the bench.

Same here. It's rained for about 18 out of the last 21 days this month, and it never reached 80 degrees the whole month. And the sun only shined for 10,843 out of a possible 27,772 minutes!

Rain: I'm not familiar with this concept. I haven't seen real rain in a few months.

He's just not polished yet and we're only seeing glimpses of what he can do as a starter. Think about it, you usually have to throw over 100 pitches a game to spots where the hitters can't hit it. Takes a lot of maturity and practice to become confident with your execution and ability to do that. We see a lot of veterans make it look easy at times because they've already gone through what Joba is going through. It's not that easy, and he's only beginning to learn how to do that.

Gardner gets to that "hit" from Guttierez, I think. Then the inning would be over. Instead, it's a tie game.

Bases loaded last inning, with no outs, and they come away with but 1 run. Inexcusable. The offense has slept their way to just 3 runs, when they should have double that. And Joba can't get through an inning without walking a batter or two.

Lots of weird hits tonight so far. This could be a bullpen battle soon.

The Yankee's haven't scored a run on a hit yet tonight. Maybe Cano can finally change that.

Or he could strike out on a pitch no where near the zone.

0-8 RISP.

Residue from recent struggles to get clutch hits. "Recent" being recent years?
