Does anyone else keep getting "Server Too Busy" every so often? Seems like the site is acting up for the past week. Do you know of anything, OG?

No, Char, I can't say that I have.

Sunday night, after the Gardner hit, I got a page unavailable message but I think we all got that.

Since then, not really any problems.

Hope it stops whatever it's doing to you, though. It doesn't know who it's messing with

 You got that right! You know me too well.

Hmm...but now I wonder why I'm only having issues with the site.

It could be your computer. Check to see if you have a lot of SVCHost.exe running. That is a problem with Windows and can cause it to mess up your internet connection.

OG, do you know what that svchost.exe is running for? I have 6 or so plus a java.exe that seems to be eating alot of memory.

Thanks, OG. Where do I look to see if I have a lot of SVCHost.exe running? I'm still having the same "Server Too Busy" issue (intermittently) when navigating around the site, and also some of the little icons are "x'ed" out. I've never had any of these problems at this site until a week or so ago. :-(

Knock on wood, but I'm not having anymore "Server Too Busy" problems the past few days. This makes me happy. :-)

svchost is used by a lot of programs on Windows, but due to bad programing Windows starts up a lot of this program and it eats a ton of memory. There are some patches you can try to get limit them some, (some of them can host spyware).

I recommend going to Major Geeks and seeing the various things they offer there for free or share ware charges. That site has really saved me a lot of times when I have had problems.

Java is a memory hog, not sure what you can really do about that other than limiting how many applications you have running with it.

Charmaine, to see what you have running, hit Control/Alt/Delete at the same time. It should give you a box to see the Task Manager. That will show you what processes are running, what programs are running. You can sort the applications by clicking image name, user name, CPU, Mem Usage. Under CPU it will show which process is using the most of your resources. Image Name puts it in alphabetical order.

It at least lets you get to see what all is going on with your computer, and if there are some processes that are killing your computer.

Thanks, OG. I will pass it along to my hubby for future references. Thanks to Chuck I knew to do the Ctrl/Alt/Delete thing to get to Task Manager, but then was lost as to what to do next. You expanded further, so that's helpful. So far the problem cleared up on its own, though, so I'm okay for now. :-)
