To me, the bullpen is such a wildcard every year. You can be great one year, and be bad the next year with pretty much the same guys (like the Indians and Red Sox). Last year the Orioles spent a lot on relievers and they were one of the worst in the majors. This year, they have these guys I've never heard of, and have been way better.

Except that even Troy has been pretty good since a very bad start, something like a 3.6 ERA in his last two months.

Did I hear Michael Kay joke yesterday that Farnsworth has pitched a no-hitter...i.e. he hasn't given up a hit in the last 9 innings that he's pitched? Of course the walks are a different matter.

Pete Abe has been writing about that. Apparently, it's true. He's walked guys, but has gone 9 innings without giving up a hit or run.

And Edwar has gone 9 2/3 without allowing a hit either, facing only 29 batters.

That had to go up, after today :-(

Yeah, he seems to be the only guy not drawing off the others out there.

Wonder if the early season friction with the fans has soured his heart and desire to truly succeed here?

Not that good, although he's getting a little better month by month. These are his stats:

April ------ 7.47 ERA, 15.2 IP, 7 K, 7 W, 1.60 WHIP
May ------- 5.40 ERA, 8.1 IP, 8 K, 4 W, 1.32 WHIP
June ------ 4.35 ERA, 10.1 IP, 3 K, 5 W, 1.55 WHIP
July ------- 4.05 ERA, 6.2 IP, 5 K, 1 W, 1.05 WHIP

Let's see if he can keep this trend, and be helpful during August, September AND October.

Very good Jorge. I thought they had said on the telecast that his ERA since June 6 was 3.6. Maybe they meant/said July 6th? And then his last outing where he gave up a run in 2/3 could have bumped it to 4.05 in July. Could be. Thanks for being thorough!

So the revolving/evolving bullpen door is open again and Bruney has rejoined the Big Boys and Britton was sent back down. Not sure if Britton will ever be able to get big league hitters out.

I think he will, Brian, but I am not sure it will be here. My guess is that Britton needs consistent work, and plenty of it, to remain sharp, and I don't think he will get it here, especially now.
