Meachum won't have his contract renewed (Sojo or Randolph may be considered), Monteleone dismissed.

Though Meacham improved after his awful start to the season, I will not miss him. It'd be kinda nice to see Willie back. Nothing shocking or earth-shaking here, though.

I can't say that I will miss Meacham at all. Overall I think the Yankees made a ton of improvements all around the club. The coaching moves were ones that could help some in giving some stability.

I also think in some ways it was a message to Girardi about how he used them. Remember Meacham was one of Girardi's picks.

Joe Girardi Manager
Tony Pena Bench Coach
Mick Kelleher First Base Coach
Rob Thomson Third Base Coach
Kevin Long Hitting Coach
Dave Eiland Pitching Coach
Mike Harkey Bullpen Coach

I like Pena as the Bench Coach. No idea on Kelleher and Thomson, we'll see. I hope Long proves his worth this year with his work with Cano and the other youngsters. Eiland should be good. Harkey, no idea.

Pena was pretty much ignored by Girardi last season, at least so the reporting said.

Kelleher at first makes some sense, though he is untried there in the majors. I think Thomson is the more key coach as it can cost outs if he makes bad reads on the field situation. I am sure there will be blips with him there, but I think it makes more sense to have Pena as bench coach - allows Girardi to benefit from his knowledge more, if he allows it anyway.

Long will be judged by how the struggling hitters of last year do. Namely Cano but also Melky are probably the biggest keys to him keeping his job.

Eiland will be fine unless all the starters come out stinking. I don't know if that is totally fair, but such is the position.

Harkey can only work with what he is given. Hopefully they will be a solid bullpen, but too often the bullpen guys seem to be year to year on how effective they are.
