This whole thing was handled poorly, and Omar came off looking really bad. This is a PR nightmare and this is over a manager who really was prime to be fired, even though it was the team that brought it to that. Now that Willie (or Wooly - as Omar calls him) is gone, Omar doesn't have anyone to hide behind. There is more talk about how racist Omar is looking now, and his commentary didn't help that at all.

Omar Minaya showed how "great" a GM he is. And the Mets organization.

There are centuries of distance between them and the Yankees.

In this case, the nickname "Mess" is appropriate :-(

Indeed, Chuck.

The Mets are like the Oakland Raiders of baseball now.

Randolph deserved to lose his job, but not like that.

The Mets are an aging club that needs to get younger, but some of their contracts are bad.

They should try and trade Carlos Beltran if they can. He's still enough of a player that he can get a good return, but he's not a winner. I'm glad the Yankees didn't pursue him, in hindsight. He would've been a disaster in the Bronx.

Randolph wrote a column in a newspaper?

What's up with that?

Willie has been classy most of the way, and it seems he regrets the few undignified instances. I think he's a good guy, and I think he'll have more chances. He11, even Clarence aston [FINALLY] got another chance!

The Mets are stilling playing poorly, so this shows it wasn't Willie who was at fault.

I wonder if the Mariners will think about hiring him. He might be a good fit there.

Randolph may or may not get another chance to manage. You never can tell.

I think he was part of the problem, though. I'm not a major league manager, but that team had a lot more problems than just baseball problems.

They had some pretty serious rifts in the clubhouse and some pretty serious issues in terms of fundamental play on the field. Too often they looked distracted, comeplacent, and lethargic.

And I don't think they're going to go to the WS like I thought they would

After the roll they got on recently you'd of thought they'd figured out how to close the deal, but this is real ugly if they don't make the playoffs.

Worse than the Yankee 2008 failure if you ask me.

Sadly, the Mets are in danger of becoming known as weak sisters; choke artists....

Hard to say with Johan. He was saying his arm was feeling better after a bullpen session, but it has to be scary for the Mets to have such a large amount invested in him and hear that he was feeling pain in his elbow.

Of course, we would feel the same if CC or Burnett were feeling that but I don't think the Mets are all that stacked in pitching now, so it makes it even more important that he remains healthy. Its going to be interesting to see how this year plays out.
