The Yankees have their problems with the start of this season, having CC and Wang suck it big time with their first starts. Wang sucking with the second one as well. Teixeira being out with a wrist soreness, A Rod out with his hip. Ransom looking over matched and Gardner doing some, but not really enough as a CF.

How to combat those miseries? Look at the Red Sox. Ortiz hasn't had an extra base hit and looks pretty poor the few times I've seen him at the plate. MVP Dwarf is hitting under .200. Heck, Veratek has a higher BA than him right now. Most of their batters other than the UGLY man Youk is having a hard time. Lester is not looking anything like he did last year. Buckett set LA on fire against him with that throw at Bobby Abreu's head. Their bullpen is having some trouble, Papelbon got a save, but it took a heck of a lot of pitches and there were reports of his velocity being down.

Yes, I know its early. So much can happen over the season which is why I am not overly concerned about even Wang's ugly outings. Still, it warms the heart to see the RS causing grief to rein supreme in ESPeeN and the third world Nation. :D

If you couldn't tell, I really don't like the RS. At all.

Agree, OG. I also feel some kind of relief looking at Red Sox stats. Other than abominable Youkilis (.519) and Bay (.286) the rest of their lineup is looking real bad.
Dwarf at .179. Lowell .154. Ellsbury .200. Shrek .208 with no extra base hits. Their GRRRREAT CAPTAIN .238. Drew .150. Lowrie .056.
And about their rotation, other than hated Beckett (3.86) there's is not one under 4.50. Their closer (the ridiculous dancer) is at 3.86 while their main set up men, Okajima and Masterson, both are at 13.50.
We have three starters under 4.50. AJ (3.37), Joba (1.50) and Andy (1.29). Our closer, the greatest ever, has not allowed a single run, and our main set up men, Bruney and Edwar, are much better than their pair (5.40 and 2.70, resp.)

So, at least, after yesterday nightmare, there is still a reason to smile.

We have to take joy where we can find it.

The RS fans are getting worried about Ortiz and his sliding offense.. They had some concerns last year and passed it off as coming off the injury. This year is starting out with more of the same, and given all his talk about not knowing what was in the shakes he was drinking, it makes me wonder even more about PEDs and Ortiz.

I think the RS can get some of that working better than it is right now. Its far too early in the season to know will shake out, but we did see how shaken up the Yankees got from their slow starts. The RS teams usually do their best in the beginning of the season and then head toward more average numbers. If that is the case this year, it will be very tough on them.

Agree. Normally they start the season hot and go down as the season goes. That's why I call them the Red Flops.

About Ortiz, of course no one can be sure, but I've always thought he is/was a PED's user. He had 58 homers in 1,477 at bats while with the Twins. 1 homer each 25.47 at bats. He had 232 homers in 3,154 at bats with Boston prior to this current season. 1 homer each 13.59 at bats. So, he almost doubled his production. A PED's using result? I think so.

I wasn't quite ready to obsess about the Red Sox yet, but it is pretty amazing how they haven't had one all around great game this year. Even the lesser teams have at least 1 of those per week on average. Just shows that there won't be any easy customers in the AL this year, including Baltimore, who's been knocking the daylights out of the ball.

In a way, this is good for baseball. Cream will rise to the top eventually, but I like seeing teams in first early on in the season that don't usually survive their after the marathon has ended.

Another good outing for Dicey K. Karma, its a killa!

Last year he got away with a ton of grief even though he never went deep in games and walked a ton. Nice to see it coming back on him. I hope it keeps up all year.

I hope the A's kick their butts tonight.

You said this almost 2 1/2 hours ago when they had 5 runs, and here it is the 11th inning and they're tied up 5-5.
I think you jinxed the A's!

You read the papers and everybody is worried about Wang. Everybody's saying that the Yankees are "just" 4-4.

But you can't find a word about how horrendous Matsuzaka is pitching and about the Red Sox being the last place of the AL East with a poor 2-6 record.

B... Sh..
