As you all probably are well aware, I was against Girardi from the beginning. Since seeing the way he manages, the way he lies to things he will be caught lying on, his silly belief in Giambi, the feelings I have against him are stronger than ever.

While a manager doesn't play the game, he is the one who is supposed to lead it. Girardi hasn't done that. Girardi has made poor calls, leaving in SP too long, sticking with Giambi batting behind A-Rod giving no protection to A-Rod. Sitting hot hitters when they don't want to in order to "give them a rest".

I would rather have had anyone over Girardi. Anyone. Maddon can out manage Girardi in any given game. That is just sad.

Cashman, I believe, pushed for this. Despite the talk, Cashman has stated over and over that Girardi is easier to work with. Why? Maybe Torre told him how crappy the pitching was and that it wasn't going to get anywhere in the post season. Girardi is a brown noser. A yes man.

I think it may be time to say thanks but good bye to Cashman who has constantly misjudged pitching talent. Has blow draft picks. Has neglected to trade for what the Yankees need, like this year - a SP, over values his prospects and unless he gets pennies to the dollar, won't do a trade.

The Yankees need a new look, a fresh set of eyes on things. Cashman won't allow that. He has lost tons of coaching talent to other teams, such as the Rays and the A's. That is silly and stupid. The Yankees underpay coaching and development, and over older players.

Girardi isn't going to gain the respect and trust needed to win in NY. The clubhouse has not shown where they trust him. He says one thing, the players the complete opposite. He won't get the most out of the veteran players because they know he wasn't much as a player, and has a .500 at best winning record as manager. He is stuborn and won't listen till things are too late.

Both should go. Fresh start in the new stadium. Maybe that will help the Yankees get back to winning.

I'm still okay with both the GM and the manager ;-)

Hmm...Old Goat wrote that a year ago, and sadly for him he didn't get his wish. Oh well, can't please everyone.

Could be, Chuck. It doesn't make sense, though. Not with the Yankees kicking butt like they are.

I have to say that I was agree with OG last season. Well, at least on Girardi. Not on Cashman.

OG said about Girardi: "He is stuborn and won't listen till things are too late."

As I said, I was agree. But there's been a pleasant surprise. 2009 Joe Girardi is much better than last year's. Better decisions. Leadership. Of course he has a better roster. But he's managed it very well. I hope this trend continues during October.

Last year (and even the early part of this year) were certainly a learning experience for Girardi. I don't think OG's wrong when he says Girardi is slow to react to problems; he does seem to be. But once he figures things out, he does a very good job of solving problems, generally in ways that do not need to be revisited. As opposed to the late Torre years, when they would plug one hole and see two more open up beside it, they're now settling on long-term solutions to problems.

I don't know where the credit for this change should go; maybe it's Girardi finally exercising his gravitas, or maybe Cashman (who is a very smart person, whatever his other faults may be) finally figured things out. Maybe it's a combination of the two. But whatever it is, the two of them are on the same page, and that is a great thing for the Yankees.

First base has been in limbo for most of the decade; that problem's been solved for years. The starting rotation had no ace; they gave it one, plus a very serviceable second starter. After a year in which practically every young player on the roster regressed, they've all taken a big step forward. Even the positions that aren't settled (ie. CF) have appealing options for the coming years.

This organization is in better shape than it's been in a decade. Maybe longer.

Don't forget, Torre had a few years in other organizations to work out the "kinks" as a manager. Girardi is only in his 3rd year as a manager, and he didn't really have a ton of coaching experience before that.

I am happy with how well things are going. Yanks are playing like I believed they could, and the woes that we are feeling... if those are truly woes [growing pains of fourth starter, unsettled nature of 5th starter competition....] then the Yanks ARE truly in the catbird seat.

I am excited about this season. We not only have a wonderful team on paper to cheer for, but they are playing well, showing cohesiveness and real team spirit. They seem to like each other, and it shows, and it is paying off. I believe in our chances for the WS this autumn.

I am excited about the offseason. I doubt that it will equal the huge splash of last offseason [think about it: CC, AJ, Tex AND Swish! Gotta be some sort of record.....], but contracts are coming off the books, some money is available, some holes need mending. Gonna be really interesting!

With all of the veterans and all of the kids, next year is going to be fun and exciting, and I can hardly wait! I think there is a good chance that our Bombers will be looking to repeat.... How fun is that?
