Funny how people can grow apart after so many years together.

Yesterday was my anniversary [my wedding with Diane]. 14 years, many for me spent at sea. We grew apart.

Good article about Donnie and his situation in the NY Daily News.

Sadness that haunts Donnie Baseball

It just truly is a sad situation.

Chuck, I think the time spent apart does something to create a divide between people.

I remember a time when I was traveling to work - coming home every other weekend for over 7 months. I felt almost like a visitor to my own home. It took months for that to recover, and even afterwards the relationship with the kids had changed, mainly the older ones.

I think it can happen with anyone, but if you are apart for long stretches the differences seem larger than if you are together. The changes aren't as stark.
