Eh...I always thought Favre was a little overrated.
Okay, before you all yell "Heresy!", let me explain. Sure, he did a lot of great things and was a great quarterback. But how many times did he have to lead his team to a come-back win because he threw a few stupid picks earlier in the game? I think he could have been a lot better had he shown a few more smarts. Sure, he has the record for most touchdowns. But he also has the record for most interceptions.
Regardless, football lost a very marketable and classy player with his retirement. And I don't really blame him for his timing, either. He had a great year and was oh-so-close to another Superbowl. Better to go out on top, like Karl said.
Until he unretires, anyway. Wouldn't surprise me if he does.
I can agree rob, and I think his big rep is based on the cowboy, gunslinger label attached to him. A guy who makes rediculously amazing plays is going to get his props, and also throw some stupid picks in the process of trying to make a big play. His games played streak is sick, and Tip is right, Manning is gonna break it.
On the other hand, you gotta hand it to a guy who puts his team in a hole and has the grapes to not back off and come through in the end with the game on the line. Like Reggie who struckout alot early, it's the late game theatrics that makes a legacy.
