This is a place meant specifically for Yankee Fans to discuss the game and the various teams. While I have no problem if a fan of another team joins us for debate or discussion, I want to make it clear that Trolls will not be tolerated.

Keep it civil. Baseball talk can bring out the best and worst in people, even those who are fans of the same team. Many of us have pretty set ideas and opinions, that is fine, but when we debate, please refrain from attacking the poster. Sometimes in the heat of the moment, some insults will come out, but the mods/admins will be watching to make sure it doesn't get out of hand.

Keep the language clean. While I am a Boy Scout, I understand and use colorful language at times, to my great shame. I want to keep this site so fans of all ages can feel comfortable posting here. Certain words will be censored.

I hope all who post here come to enjoy the banter, the ideas, the sharing that we had at the old site. The site is only as good as the people who frequent it and post here.

 I did change things around as I really couldn't remember everything from the old site. I am sure I will be adding and changing a few things as time goes on.

The Mick was one of my all time favorite players.

Speaking of Mick...I just remembered that we're going to need a "Heroes" Forum, too.

With good reason. I wish I had had the chance to see him play (other than on my WS dvd).

I'd like a time machine for that - I'd love to hear the CRACK of ball against bat when Mick hit a tape-measure drive...

Imagine what the Mick would have been like if he had played healthy for his career. That would have been incredible.

Posting a tad late on this topic, but since I had a hard time getting on here to begin with....... better late than never.

Very true, Chuck. Kirk Gibson was branded an all time hightlight for his WS HR off of Eck, yet the Mick hobbled around the bases the last 1/4 of his career!

Does anybody (i.e. "oldtimers" on here!) know when his knee injury(s) happened, and how many years he played on it/them? I remember it being a significant amout of time but just how much I'm just guessing at.

His original knee injury happened his first year in the majors. Playing right 'cause Dimaggio was in center.

Mick played hurt his entire career.

I don't remember him ever not limping. My father says he had the limp (not as bad as later, but still there) when they called him back up to play center.

Well it couldn't have been too bad early on because that boy was fast in his day!
