Good start to the game. Yankees score 3 runs in the top of the 1st to give Wang a lead before he steps to the mound.

On another note, just saw this MLB.com headline:

Hanson fights off flu in masterful victory

My thought when I saw that was this: Looks like the Yankees left the flu bug in the wrong clubhouse.

Strange Days, indeed:
Frenchy got beaned but stayed in the game.
Cleveland sent Mark DeRosa to the Cards.
Billy Mays died.

Talk about "strange", Wang didn't look so good in the first but didn't give up a run. Wonder how long that will last? Can't leave pitches up like he did to Tatis and live to stay around that long.

Mets remind me of my softball team when we play a really bad team and they have that uncanny ability to make us look really good. A lot of the guys come away thinking we're really good but you know when you play a better team that they'll expose our weaknesses.

Livan is one of those pitchers you think you'll shell every time, but he always seems to do just well enough to keep his job.

Wang must be ecstatic to have a lead. Looks a little shaky so far, but nothing like April at least.

Yeah he looks SO hittable but he gets a lot of hitters out with that junk, not just us.

And Wang has made a few mistakes that have been hit right at fielders, so lets hope he gets a little better.

Cano had just Hernandez walk the bases loaded. He had a 2-0 count. So he swings and hits into a DP.

I very much doubt that he swung at "his pitch" in that situation. That boy needs to learn some patience.

Instead, the Yankees come away with zero runs after having 1st and 2nd with nobody out.

Guess the Yankees wanted to play a nailbiter for a change. Seems like Cano isn't hitting well when the rest of the team is, and vice versa.

Well he hit a good pitch and hit it hard, but 2-0 and the pitcher struggling he should've taken a strike to make the guy throw at least 1 more. Bad situational hitting even though he hit it hard - make the guy throw two strikes with the bases loaded.

Cano is giving us even more fodder to complain about his lineup placement. Why pitch to A-Rod when you can just walk him and get Cano to ground into a DP?

Otherwise, this was probably Wang's best start of the year. The sinker seemed to be working pretty well; he just needs to work on his stamina now, I believe. He's been making steady progress for a while now, which is a good thing.

Livan reminds me of Wakefield in some ways. Doesn't throw hard at all, and yet can totally mess up a team that's in an offensive groove, just because hitters typically gear up for a 95 MPH fastball, which is not featured tonight.

Wonder if tonight could be that 500th save for Mo, just so we don't have to hear about it anymore.

Another great AB out of Cano in the 5-spot.

I guess I'll use this time to let you know that I was mentioned on last night's edition of Baseball Tonight, for pointing out that all three players in the history of baseball who have last names starting with KOT all played in the same game yesterday. It was on the Kurk-gems segment, and he mentioned me by name and that I played Scrabble. That was unexpected.

Meanwhile, this win would sure be hard-earned.
