I thought I'd move this part of the forum up to the top of the board index for the playoff games.

Do you guys think we should make a separate thread for each game, or just one thread for each series? See how I said "each series"? That's because I plan on the Yankees being in three of them.

Oh, and how depressing to see such limited action in this section, since of course, the Yankees weren't in the postseason last year!

Anyway, hopefully they go DEEP into October and we'll have plenty to say this year. :-)

Anyway you want, amore mío. You are the guru of this site, since OG abandoned us.

I agree with you. I've said it before. I have a strong feeling that this will be a wonderful postseason for us. This time number 27 will, finally, come home.

And do not forget that they won't just go deep into October, but they'll also play early November.

About the threads, as I said before, it's up to you. I'd prefer one per series. But it's just me.

And, like Chuck posted on my Facebook, MAGIC NUMBER IS 11

Good to see this section of the forum. May it be filled with many lengthy posts. :D

And I vote for threads for each individual game. I figure we'll get quite a bit of traffic, and it will be nice to keep things separate and organized.

I found this article. It's about A-Rod in postseason games. I think it's interesting.

Yet come Wednesday, when the Yankees are expected to open the playoffs against the AL Central champions, the Tigers or Twins, the highest-scoring offense in baseball will be judged through a familiar postseason prism: the performance of Alex Rodriguez.

That perception is not lost on the man who, since coming to the Yankees in 2004, has taken part in just one playoff-series victory and has just eight hits, one home run and one RBI in his last 16 postseason games.

Rodriguez has had company. In the Yankees' 17 playoff games since the 2004 ALCS turned in favor of the Red Sox, Matsui and Posada have combined for three home runs and six RBI in 121 at-bats. Even Jeter has just one run scored and one RBI in his last seven postseason games.

Yet because he has never won a championship and for millions of dollars' worth of other reasons, A-Rod has been A-Target like no other.

"So much is always talked about what Alex didn't do," manager Joe Girardi said. "There are a lot of other guys who didn't do it, either, but he just happens to be the focus. We have to have all our other guys contribute."

That's reality.

I'm okay with starting it out with one thread per series. If we are getting at least 4 or 5 pages of posts in a game, then we can change it to a thread per game.

One thing I really hope to see in these playoffs: force the issue. What I mean by that is that I want to see the Yankees running. Don't be stupid, of course, but if the opportunity presents itself they need to be stealing bases, going for the hit-and-run, etc.

It's the bottom of the eight inning at Minneapolis, and we still don't have a clue to know who our rival will be.

It's out of the question that Detroit's trio (Verlander, Jackson and Porcello) is a lot better than Twins' (Blackburn, Baker and you-know-who). But it's also out of the question that Minnesota is playing extremely well, while the Tigers have been the other side of the coin.

Anyway, a team that's been built to win the World Series should not be overworried about who will be their rival. They should only be focused on their own performance. And I'm sure that this 2009 New York Yankees are capable of winning any team.

But there's still the question. Which one would you all prefer?

Wow, is this a game or what?! Let's hope they go 22 innings and whoever ends up winning will blow into town completely drained. :D

As for who I would prefer the Yankees to play, Jorge? I go back and forth and I'm driving myself crazy in the process! This is about how I feel, though. (She's funny.)

Which Team Would I Rather Play?

That's a very funny article by "She-fan".

On the other hand, according to LoHud Blog, Brian Bruney is officially out of the ALDS roster. Bruney, Peña and Mitre will be flying to Tampa to keep in shape for an eventual call to play the ALCS.

Also, Burnett will be the starter for the 2nd game of this coming series. I agree with Girardi on that. Pettitte's numbers have been better on the road that at the New Cathedral. And Burnett will be pitching at home during his first postseason, which could help him a lot.

Ok, so how about we'll have a single ALDS thread and when the Yankees get to the ALCS and WS, we'll have individual threads for each of those games since those are longer series. Even though it would be nice to just totally dominate and not even need the 7 games.

Indeed! This is reminding me of the '07 one-game playoff between the Padres and Rockies. That one went 13 innings, though.

Whoa, the Tigers just scored. 5-4 now.

Bruney definitely seemed bummed out that he's not in, but maybe that changes with another series. Hopefully for him anyway--he feels he earned a spot.

I can't believe the big debate amongst the posters over at LoHud about Molina catching Burnett. There is some pretty passionate discussions going on about the fact that Posada won't be catching him, but Girardi knows best, I suppose. If it doesn't work out, God forbid, and Burnett doesn't do well, I can only imagine the backlash Girardi will get for putting in Molina. I do think they work better together (AJ is more comfortable with Molina), so I think it's kind of a must in this case.

Man, this game keeps getting more exciting by the minute. All tied up again!

I'm calling for about 27 innings, with them finishing the game at about 9:30 in the morning and getting only a couple of hours "sleep" on the plane to New York. Who's with me?

Hopefully this won't be like years past, where the 1-game playoff is by far the best game of the month. Sentimentally, I'm hoping the Twins win, just to extend the life of the Metrodome. Plus, it would be an appropriate return favor from what happened to them last year.
