So, will we see a Yankee win and a 40th pennant tonight? Or will the Angles find a way to force the series back to New York? I know what we all want. Will AJ Burnett help us get it? Will Alex stay hot? Will the rest of the line up step up and contribute?

We're about to find out.

Not quite as good a start as the rest of this series.

I am having visions of Kevin Brown.

Ugh, that name shouldn't be allowed on here like a lot of others. At least he isn't our potential game 7 starter.

No doubt.

But here's what is increasingly gnawing on me. Top of the first, Yankees have 1st and 2nd, nobody out. 3-2 pitch to Teixeira is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay outside. Umpire calls it a strike and rings up Tex. Think about it. Instead of bases loaded, no out, Lackey gets a strike out and a confidence boost that he didn't earn. What would have happened if Tex had gotten the walk he earned?

Would it have changed that fact that AJ Burnett is pitching like crap? Probably not. But maybe having a deficit from the start could have had an effect on the confidence of the Angle batters.

Hey, one other thing!

I'm glad we took a guy out of the line up who hits .414/.469/.586 against Lackey, just so AJ Burnett could have his personal catcher. I mean, anything to help the guy avoid a huge meltdown, right?

I guess not. Just didn't think we'd be getting our answer this soon. Since he's already screwed up with his "personal catcher", they might as well put Posada in now. Doesn't he hit Lackey well?

Haha, Rob--guess we're thinking the same exact thing here.

Yeah, and the "strikeout" pitch to Teixeira WAS infuriating--another good point.

Here's another thought:

AJ Burnett has given up more runs in one inning than any team has scored on the Yankees in 9 innings the whole post-season!

Inconceivable.

And, actually, the only team to score more than 4 runs off the Yankees in any game at all was the Angles in their extra-innings win in game 3.

I don't think we are going to beat Lackey.
What we CAN do, though, is wear him down, and then batter the bullpen.
I hope that is what we do.

Well, it is more fun to win at home, but gee, that's no guarantee, of course.

And AJ is offering up batting practice.

Maybe to send AJ a message, Jorge should PH for Josey,
and stay in the game at catcher.

Maybe the trend is that all the division series are won on the road, and the championship series is won at home.
