Wow!!!!! So, now we're just minutes away from the first game of the World Series. First time since 2003 that World Series will mean something to me.

This is our lineup
1- Jeter, SS
2- Damon, LF
3- Tex-man, 1B
4- Alex, 3B
5- Jorge, C
6- Matsui, DH
7- Canó, 2B
8- Swisher, RF
9- Melky, CF

And CC Sabathia on the mound, trying to keep going on his outstanding postseason.

LET'S GET READY TO RUMBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One pitch, one out? Not a bad start.

That was a bit more of an adventure than I wanted in the first inning, but at least CC escaped.

Two strikeouts and a bunt is pretty dull, but I guess they're saving the best for later.

That inning was more like the CC we're used to. Now, can we see the offense that we're used to as well?

I think this will easily be the lowest scoring game, just because both of these starters have been insanely good this postseason. They may have to settle for eking one out tonight.

Yes, I suppose I shouldn't be greedy; this won't be easy. Lee is dealing so far.

At least a couple of hitters got a ball out of the infield that inning. Talk about a chink in the armor.

Looks like we'll need another win of the come-from-behind variety. Thankfully they've been pretty good at that this year.

50+ pitches for Sabathia already.

Lee has thrown 27 through 2.

But the most important number: 1-0 Phillies. Sabathia is struggling with command. Doesn't help that he hasn't pitched for, what, a week or so?

The Phillies don't look like other recent teams that have had long layoffs prior to the World Series.

That's assuming that either:

A) they find some way to get to Lee.

or

B) they start making Lee throw more pitches so that they can get him out of the game. Right now, he's on pace to go all 9.

Sorry if I sound pessimistic about this game. I am.

No Yankee batter has made Lee throw more than 5 pitches in an AB.

Sabathia has had 5 batters make him throw more than 5 pitches, with the 9 to Utley (homerun) being the most.

The Phillies are fouling off a lot of pitches to stay alive. The Yankees aren't.

CC does seem to be finding his form now, though.

I'm not going to get too confident yet. He retired 6 straight after struggling in the first, and then gave up the homerun to Utley. Still, at this point it doesn't matter much what Sabathia does if the Yankees can't get something going on offense. Lee's on pace to throw a 120 pitch complete game.
